Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative Webinar

Marie Velez, Better Health Pathways HUB Project Lead, recently participated as a panel speaker during a Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) of Cleveland webinar – Equity in Engagement: Building Relationships with Community Health Workers to Advance Research. The CTSC is comprised of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, the MetroHealth system, University Hospitals and the Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Medical Center.

The webinar showcased how community health workers (CHWs) can make an impact by integrating their work with research, population health and the community. Marie shared information about the Better Health Pathways HUB and how CHWs have helped advance health literacy, activities and research through projects such as Nourishing Beginnings. Additional speakers included: Jennifer Conti, RN Manager, Population Health, The MetroHealth System; Odiri Omobien, MSSA, LISW Community Health Manager, University Hospitals and Alisa Sprague, LISW-S Coordinator, Mental Health Intensive Case Management for Veterans with SMI, Louis Stokes VA Cleveland Medical Center.
